Chris Cuomo is opening up about how being fired from CNN impacted him emotionally and mentally, and some of what he has to say is disturbing.
While revealing that being fired had a severe impact on his mental health, Cuomo admits to a number of aggressive and dangerous thoughts that he had about himself and about others.
Cuomo was fired from CNN after he reportedly helped out his brother Andrew Cuomo by offering counseling and help with his sexual harassment scandal. Chris Cuomo filed a $25 million lawsuit against the network in retaliation, alleging others at CNN had done similar things and didn't lose their jobs.
While appearing on Anthony Scaramucci's podcast, Chris says, "I had to accept [my firing] because I was going to kill everybody including myself. Things can consume you. Italians are so passionate. There is damage that is relatable, there is damage that is unrelatable to people that I have to deal with, that I am working on."
Cuomo also admits that his latest projects aren't attracting the kinds of numbers he enjoyed at CNN, but that he's made peace with that ship having sailed. His new show, NewsNation, reportedly had only 147,000 viewers when it came out in October 2022.
He says of his time on CNN, "I'll never be that again. That was taken from me, I believe wrongly. I'll litigate that."
Chris goes on to add that he doesn't plan to specifically discuss the matter publicly.
He continues, "I'm not going to [expletive] about it in the press … I'm trying to remember what I've been through every day, and not forgetting and falling back into what works and what will rate more and what will get me higher on the media list and what will get more people talking about me."
