Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir, Spare, hit bookstores on January 10 of this year. In it, Harry gets real about many aspects of his personal life, such as his strained relationship with his extended family, his love story with Meghan, and even his recreational drug usage. One group wants to use this honesty against him to get him kicked out of the United States.
The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, is urging officials to publicly release Harry’s visa application. They want to check it against the facts in Spare to see if Harry disclosed his drug usage. If not, they believe he should be deported, which frankly is a long shot.
In Spare and the book’s press tour, Harry admitted to using marijuana, cocaine, and mushrooms. The usage of psychedelic mushrooms and marijuana was a coping mechanism for the trauma he has faced in his life. Coke was more of a party drug.
The Heritage Foundation believes the public has a right to see Harry’s visa application. “This request is in the public interest in light of the potential revocation of Prince Harry’s visa for illicit substance use and further questions regarding the Prince’s drug use and whether he was properly vetted before entering the United States,” said Mike Howell, director of the Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project. They believe that Harry might have received special treatment if officials knew about his drug use. If officials did not know about it, there are grounds to deport Harry.

The United States government is refusing to release Harry’s immigration documents. “Visa records are confidential under Section 222(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA); therefore, we cannot discuss the details of individual visa cases,” said a US State Department official. It is highly unlikely that Harry will ever be kicked out of the United States.
