Colorado Dentist Was Booking Flights For His Mistress As His Poisoned Wife Was Dying

More details are emerging in the case of a Colorado dentist who stands accused of poisoning his wife, Angela Craig, ultimately leading to her death. James Toliver Craig was arrested on March 19, 2023, for his wife's murder.

Arrest documents are revealing new information on a possible motive. It appears that while Angela Craig was dying in the hospital, her husband was booking flights for his mistress, a married orthodontist named Karin Cain. The pair also exchanged a steamy correspondence via email.

Arrest documents call the correspondence “intimate in nature.” They also “contained sexually explicit conversations.” Cain used terms of endearment for James Craig, such as “honey,” and often signed off saying “I love you.”

Investigators believe Craig put arsenic and potassium cyanide in his wife’s protein shakes. She was hospitalized for the first time from March 9 to 14. A search of his email shows he flew Cain to Colorado for a visit from March 8 to March 10. Another trip was booked on March 4 for March 16 to 18. It just so happens that same day a package of arsenic arrived at Craig’s home. Angela Craig was readmitted to the hospital on March 15 and was taken off life support on March 19.

“It appears James was flying this woman into Denver while his wife and the mother of his children was dying in the hospital,” investigators stated.

When Angela Craig died, Cain distanced herself from James Craig. “I do want to give you any comfort I can but I do not feel it is right for me to mix in with all of those gathering to mourn Angela either and I do not want to meet your family as a friend and try to conceal what I feel for you,” she wrote in an email.
