Each year, Jeff Norton goes all out with his holiday decorations. For four years in a row, he's chosen to theme his home in the style of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and the theme has generally been appreciated by all who visit to see the lights.
This year, Jeff's hometown of La Mirada, California, has decided enough is enough. The city has threatened the homeowner with fines if he doesn't scale back his holiday cheer.
He explains that the movie is a family favorite, telling local news, "You know, as a kid, we loved this movie. We really gravitated with it as a family, and it just kind of grew on us. And then I had that fantasy to really build into it and got out one day and started putting lights on the house, and one thing led to another."
But this year he added a fake second story to his home, and that appears to be too much for the Los Angeles suburb. While the city is threatening to start issuing citations, Jeff isn't giving in.
