The war on aging has been stirring the pot for quite some time. As people take a stand against anti-aging medicines and clap back at rude comments about their graying hair or their drooping skin, it's safe to say that many are not here for society's attempt to "prevent" aging. Justine Bateman is one of them.
In an interview with 60 Minutes Australia, Justine talked about how she has no desire to erase the evidence of age on her face. "I feel like I would erase, not only all my authority that I have now, but also, I like feeling that I am a different person now than I was when I was 20. I like looking in the mirror and seeing that evidence."
Justine's decision to age naturally comes from her confidence within herself. Though in the past she shared that she was tempted to test out Botox and fillers in order to appear younger, she is now at a place where she appreciates her appearance.
"I think my face represents who I am," she said. "I like it."

She also shared that it's painful to watch other women become obsessed with trying to stop their aging process. "I feel sad that they are distracted from the things that they are meant to do in life … with this consuming idea that they've got to fix their face before anything else can happen."
In her book Face, she explores the societal pressure of buying into anti-aging efforts. She also takes a dive into the way society reacts to the aging process of women primarily, embedding fear and negativity in many women's minds, to the point that they become fixated with the idea of looking young.
In her interview with 60 Minutes Australia, Justine said, "I think getting all this plastic surgery is just people pleasing. You don't want people to criticize you anymore so you appease them. The more you do that, the further away you get away from your true self."
In an Instagram post shared in 2022, Justine showed the evolution of her face by posting seven different driver's license photos from over the years. One user commented, "This is amazing ❤️."
And that's just one among many fans who have shown appreciation for Justine's vulnerability in her aging process. After her segment aired on the Today show, she received a DM from a mom: “I never realized what impact this conversation was having on younger women until my [16-year-old] daughter came in from the other room. She said, ‘Hey, did you guys see the 60 Minutes thing with Justine Bateman?’ She said it was great–now I’m not afraid of getting old.”
Justine labeled the aging war as an "inside job" meant to taint the perception women have on themselves. “I would say to any young woman, you’re being lied to," she said. "Who is making money off this?"
On the Today show, she conveyed a meaningful statement: "I’m just somebody who got myself on the other side of what that fear was for me in particular, and I’m just sharing what worked for me. Lots of ways to get there, but for anyone who wants to get free."
