Aaron Carter's cause of death has been revealed. The singer, whose body was found on November 5, 2022, died from drowning. Prior to drowning, he had inhaled difluoroethane (compressed air) and taken alprazolam (a generic form of Xanax).
The coroner also noted that Aaron's death occurred as he was unable to wake up after the drugs took effect while he was in the tub.
The cause of death is similar to that of Whitney Houston, who accidentally drowned in a bathtub following substance use. Whitney was found in her hotel room bathtub with cocaine in her system.
The Carter family has weathered a number of deaths in recent years. In 2012, Aaron's sister Leslie Carter died from an overdose, and in 2017 his father, Robert Carter, died from a heart attack.

A source close to the family told People, "Aaron never really dealt with a lot of trauma he had. He was really torn up when Leslie died, but it was Bob's death that really threw him."
