Aaron Carter, best known as the younger brother of Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter and a successful singer himself, opened up to his fans on September 22, 2017, and let them know that he'd be heading off to rehab.
He had previously appeared on episodes of The Doctors, where he was very candid about his addiction. "I've been to multiple psychiatrists, multiple therapists, but nothing has ever helped me and truly worked the way that this is starting to and this show is starting to," he said on an episode.
On that same episode, a 911 call was played that was made by a friend who said Aaron was "on the verge of death" and needed help. Thankfully, Aaron accepted an offer of attending rehab for treatment of his drug problem.
Aaron took to social media to let his fans know he'd be seeking treatment and had checked into a rehab facility for two weeks.
While the singer said he wouldn't be back online until 2018, he surprised fans by posting a new photo of himself looking healthier and happier — and 30 pounds heavier!

Aaron Carter, 29, was famously known for his sugary pop anthems in the late '90s.
He was recently back in the news after reports of erratic behavior due to drug abuse, which took a toll on him physically and mentally.
On September 22, 2017, he tweeted that things weren't going great and he was going to take a break from social media.
His next tweet was to express that he was going to focus on taking care of himself and would inform everyone after he'd had some "me time."
He also shared that he'd be saying goodbye to focus on a new stress-free life, which involved seeking treatment in rehab.
Aaron posted a longer note to fans stating that he'd be taking care of himself after too much stress in his personal life.
The combination of stress, fame, and addiction took a toll on Aaron's body.
Before entering rehab, he weighed only 115 pounds and his body was frail.
After being in rehab for 14 days, Aaron came back to social media to post a photo of his new self.
He posted this side-by-side image of himself at 115 pounds and now at a healthy 145 pounds.
You can see the drastic difference in his torso and face.
"Continuing to focus on myself and my health. Sorry I couldn't wait to show you till 2018," he wrote. "I missed you all so much. Needed some time to heal and this is a direct result."
Hundreds of fans flooded his comments section with notes of love and admiration for his candidness.
A fan like this one reminded Aaron that his health should be his number one priority.
After his treatment in rehab and coming back to so many wonderful comments, Aaron wrote a note on Twitter to thank fans for being so kind to him.
"Thank you to everyone who has continued to believe in me and stick by my side. I will always aim to make you proud but this was for me," he wrote.
We're so glad to see that Aaron is getting healthier after being in rehab.
