It’s hard for many to think of Harry Potter as a father, but the man behind the iconic character has just welcomed his first child. Daniel Radcliffe and girlfriend Erin Darke have had a baby. The couple are notoriously private, so many details — such as the name and sex of the child — are unknown at this time.
Daniel and Erin were spotted out and about with a stroller in New York City in photos obtained by the Daily Mail. They have not officially commented on their growing family. Perhaps this is a job for Rita Skeeter of the Daily Prophet and her Quick-Quotes Quill, but then again, that story would not be entirely accurate.
Daniel and Erin first met in 2012 on the set of the indie film Kill Your Darlings. The pair played love interests, which turned out to be a foreshadowing of what was to come. Daniel opened up about their initial encounters to Playboy magazine.
“That’s a wonderful record of us flirting for the first time,” he recalled. “There’s no acting going on — not from my end, anyway. There’s a moment when she makes me laugh, and I’m laughing as me and not as my character. She was incredibly funny and smart. I knew I was in trouble.”
The couple share a good sense of humor, which helps while dating in the public eye.
“Dating a famous person teaches you very quickly that [expletive] is weird sometimes. People are weird with fame sometimes,” Erin confessed to Vulture. “We’re at the point now where I’ve seen my own wedding reported several times. You do start to dismiss things you read about your partner if you’re pretty sure they’re not true.”

Daniel is not the first Harry Potter alum to become a father. Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley, became a father in May 2020. Rupert shares daughter Wednesday with girlfriend Georgia Groome. Daniel was happy for Rupert.
“I texted him the other day and said I was so happy for him and it’s very very cool,” he revealed on a Watch What Happens Live appearance. “It’s also like super weird, for me, to think that we are all at the age where we are all having children, but we definitely are!”
