Twenty-six-year-old Simone Biles has won seven Olympic medals and can now add another title to her résumé: wife. On May 6, 2023, Simone wed Jonathan Owens for the second time in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
The pair were legally married previously at a courthouse in Houston, which they announced on Instagram on April 22. At their destination wedding in Mexico, 144 people attended. The dates even happened to coincide with Cinco de Mayo.
Simone’s wedding dress was designed by Galia Lahav, and it perfectly accentuated her natural beauty. The dress shimmered with pearls, sparkles, and flowery details. According to Simone, a “very crucial” aspect of the dress was the dramatic slit up the side, which helped her look taller.
Jonathan, a safety for the Houston Texans, shared a video of the Friday night welcome party, which happened to fall on Cinco De Mayo. Simone joked on Twitter that this was “the best thing to accidentally happen.” Everyone can be seen wearing white, taking tequila shots, and dancing the night away.

Simone shared about her wedding morning. She had adorable white silk pajamas with feathered sleeves. She poured herself some orange juice in a champagne flute to start the day out right and possibly to shake off the welcome party’s lingering effects.
Simone and Jonathan met on the members-only dating app Raya in March 2020. This was the beginning of the pandemic, which actually worked out great for these normally busy athletes. By August 2020, they were Instagram official and publicly out about their relationship. By February 2022, they were engaged.
