David Harder has bonded with his grandson, Ronan, over their shared love of snowmobiling. They've spent many hours together watching snowmobile videos on social media, picking up new tips and tricks from their favorite riders.
Recently, David and his friends took their snowmobiles out for a ride at the Cumbres Pass in Colorado. Just before attempting the steep climb, David turned to the camera to dedicate his next run to his beloved grandson.
He was just about to reach the top of the snowy slope when he suddenly felt the base begin to drop underneath him. Instead of turning left like he planned, he made an abrupt right turn and gunned it down the mountain.
Within seconds, David had just accidentally triggered an avalanche … and the whole thing was caught on camera.
According to Wikipedia, an avalanche is a "rapid downward flow of snow over a steep slope that occurs when a cohesive slab of snow lying upon a weaker layer of snow fractures and slides down a steep slope."
As you'll see, he luckily outran the avalanche and safely made it to the bottom of the steep hill just in time, only to send another message to Ronan.
