Texas Man Tries To Kidnap 2-Year-Old While Her Parents Are Taking Groceries Out Of The Car

The world we live in today is so different from the world we used to live in back then. Children can't even play in their yards without having their safety threatened, and one Texas family recently found this to be true. Paige and Carlos Ortiz's heroic actions in stopping the attempted kidnapping of their 2-year-old daughter were caught on camera, and it's a lesson for parents everywhere.

The parents noticed a blue truck following them home from the grocery store, but they eventually brushed it off and thought nothing of it. But after they parked in their driveway and started unloading groceries, the driver of the blue truck approached Carlos. The man, later identified as Steven Bayse, started asking questions about the family's truck. Then things took a turn.

Bayse turned his attention to their daughter, who was playing in the front yard, and got out of his truck.

"I didn't think much of it, because he's probably just trying to say hi," said Carlos Ortiz. "Out of nowhere, he just scoops her up and starts heading back to his truck."

Bayse accused Ortiz of not being the father of the little girl.

The parents were thankfully able to get their daughter back after the mom held a knife to the kidnapper's throat. The entire incident was caught on camera. Bayse has been arrested and is currently facing charges of kidnapping, evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, and aggravated assault against a public servant.
