Savannah Chrisley Opens Up About Her Plans To Have Children: ‘It’s So Hard In The South’

Savannah Chrisley has had a bumpy couple of years, with no real end in sight. Her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, are currently serving time for fraud. Savannah is holding down the home front and raising her sister and brother.

Savannah has been open about how difficult this time is for her family. She continues to try to move forward with her own personal life while juggling her family obligations. On the June 13 episode of her podcast, Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley, she opened up about her fear of marriage. It scares her even more than having kids.

"It's so hard because in the South, too, you experience this, like, [perspective of], 'You should be married. You should have kids.’ And I say the thought of marriage scares me more than kids," Savannah confessed.

Savannah has thought about why this is. “I don't know if it's maybe — and this is gonna sound so bad, but I think maybe because kids, you're in control of, you know?” she mused. “So if I were to have a kid, it's my responsibility to take care of them and I make sure they get from point A to point B. All these things.”

Marriage is scary because it involves another person. “But with marriage, it's kind of like you're giving over a part of yourself to someone, so they have the ability to hurt you. It's a weird thing I'm still trying to figure out in my mind," she admitted.

Savannah knows her thoughts are influenced by her current situation. She finds it hard to want to move on with that part of her life because her parents would not be able to be a part of it.

"In my mind, I can't move on with my life," she confessed. "Until I know that they're going to be there, I can't get married. I can't have a kid. … [But I know] they're going to eventually one day get to be a part of it."
