Penn State Professor Charged After Trying To Record Himself Having Sex With His Dog

Dogs are man’s best friend, but Themis Matsoukas took his friendship with his collie way too far.

On June 13, 2023, Matsoukas, who worked as a chemical engineering professor at Penn State, was charged with open lewdness, indecent exposure, sexual intercourse with an animal, and more. These charges came about after he was allegedly caught near the bathrooms of Rothrock State Forest in Pennsylvania committing lewd acts on his dog. This was not an isolated incident.

Matsoukas was identified in park trail camera footage by his North Face backpack from an April incident. He even attempted to record himself on his own tablet. When authorities narrowed in on him as a suspect, they obtained a search warrant.

Matsoukas freaked out when authorities showed up at his residence. Investigators told him that he probably already knew why they were there. This caused him to repeatedly say, “I’m done, I’m dead.” He became increasingly upset and even told police at one point, “I need to die.” He justified his actions to investigators by saying, “I do it to blow off steam.”

Investigators found the backpack and the dog from the incidents at his home. They believe he has been committing these crimes since 2014.

“Themis Matsoukas has been relieved of his responsibilities and is on leave,” Penn State said in a statement, per the Centre Daily Times.
