Becoming an aunt is an important milestone and honor in one’s life. Aunts play an important but often uncelebrated role in a child’s development. They are part friend, part counselor, and part teacher, helping mold a tiny human into a well-adjusted grown-up.
Al Roker of The Today Show got to witness his daughter Leila become an aunt. Leila met her niece, Sky, for the first time and Al shared the precious moment on Instagram. It was emotional for him as well.
Al captioned his carousel of photos: "I had tears in my eyes watching #aunt @cleilapatra meeting her #niece Sky Clara for the first time." Al is a father of three. His eldest daughter, Courtney, is mother to Sky. The photos show a beaming Aunt Leila holding Sky and even giving her a bottle.
Leila celebrated the moment on her own Instagram account taking to her stories. "Welcome baby Sky," the new aunt gushed. "I love her so much already."

Aunt Leila and baby Sky met two weeks after she came into this world. The bundle of joy was born on July 3, 2023. Al took to Instagram the following day and could not contain his excitement about being a grandfather.
“And then this little girl came into my life,” he gushed in his caption of the precious little girl’s photo. “Welcome to the world, Sky Clara Laga. In love all over again. Thank you, Courtney and Wes for such a perfect blessing. Your baby is beautiful. Already planning the ways to spoil her and then hand her back.”
