Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson shocked Hollywood in a major way. The actor made a "historic" donation to the SAG-AFTRA relief fund amid the strike. His generosity will reportedly help thousands of working actors stay on their feet until a deal is made between the actors union and the studios.
The executive director of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, Cyd Wilson, called his donation the "largest single donation" ever by an individual at one time. Courtney B. Vance, the foundation's head, said The Rock made the donation to the Emergency Financial Assistance Program right after the strike was called.
Both Cyd and Courtney sent a letter to 2,700 of the unions highest-paid earners. The Rock is among them. "When we hit a crisis like this and we're going to spend millions and millions of dollars in financial assistance," Cyd shared. "This is when we need our high-profile talent who can afford it, who are in a situation to help others."

"I want to thank Dwayne for his tremendous generosity, compassion, and initiative to step up in this significant and meaningful way for our community," Courtney shared. "On behalf of the thousands who will be helped by his historic donation, thank you, thank you, thank you."
