Did The Pioneer Woman Just Show Everyone The Correct Way To Cut A Pineapple?

No matter how many years you spend in the kitchen, there is always something new to be learned that could inevitably save you time or make life just a little bit easier.

This viral video post on the Pioneer Woman’s Instagram page shows the world how this Food Network cooking show host cuts a pineapple in the most practical and straightforward manner.

In the video, Ree Drummond notes in the caption that this is how she’s “cut up a pineapple since [she] was 18 months old,” or however long ago she first cut some large tropical fruit. Even though the video is sped up, the entire process looks like it takes her less than two minutes.

The video shows Ree promptly cutting off the leafy top and the bottom of a pineapple to start. Slicing off the base ensures that you have a stable surface for cutting into the rest of your fruit.

At that point, Ree simply makes several long approximately 1-inch cuts around the exterior of the pineapple to get rid of all the rind. Be sure that you cut into the fruit far enough so that you also get rid of any of those spiky parts that aren’t nice to chew on.

From there, Ree can be seen cutting down the core of the pineapple to cut it in half and then makes five more slices so that she has 10 long pineapple spears.

She then takes each wedge and cuts them longways to get rid of the tough core and then slices them into small pieces that would work nicely in any fruit salad or smoothie.
