People misplace items all the time. Some find their way back to us and others are gone forever. It is an entirely different ballgame when a person goes missing. It is a story stranger than fiction when the person was never lost to begin with.
According to police in Oakland, California, this was the case with Lisa Hu. She was reported missing eight years ago. She recently contacted the Oakland Police Department to have herself removed from missing persons list. She says she is healthy and safe but requests privacy at this time.
Lisa was originally reported missing on December 8, 2015. She was in her early 20s at the time. Her family claimed she was in good health and mental state at the time of her disappearance. Her last known location was the 900 block of 34th Street in Oakland, California.
Lisa is now 31 years old. A spokesperson from the Oakland Police Department explained the strange situation: "Someone reported her missing but she wasn't actually missing at all. If someone is reported missing, we are obligated by law to follow up and try to locate them.”

The police department had been actively working on this case as it was an ongoing investigation. They were pushing it out to get more leads. Lisa somehow found out.
"She later came forward and notified the department that she was not missing," the spokesperson explained. Officials did not disclose where she has been for the last eight years but did confirm she was healthy and had not been kidnapped or harmed. She has been removed from the missing persons list.
Lisa did not ask for the attention or 15 minutes of fame she is now receiving. She requests privacy at this time. She just wants to go on living her best life.
