On Friday September 1, 2023, Kevin Costner won a small victory of sorts in his contentious divorce proceedings from estranged wife Christine Baumgartner. He was ordered to pay $63,209 per month in child support. He was currently paying $129,755 a month.
Kevin argued he was going to pass on his properties to his children. Christine believed the kids deserved to live a luxurious life regardless of which parent they were with. The judge agreed with Kevin’s proposed child support figure over Christine’s.
Christine initially asked for $175,057 a month but then reduced her figure to $161,592 because of a forensic accountant’s assessment. She argued that high-end living was in Cayden, Hayes, and Grace’s “DNA at this point.” She used their activities and family homes and evidence.
“We create whatever we can dream up in here,” she stated. She argued the court “must allow the children to be supported at a level commensurate with Kevin’s considerable wealth, even if that level of support also improves [my] standard of living.” Kevin disagreed.

Kevin accused Christine of asking for more money to fund her own comfort and lifestyle. He believed she would use the money for plastic surgery. He argued that $51,940 per month was more than reasonable. He denied Christine’s accusations that he was withholding money from her. The judge appeared to agree more with Kevin’s assessment than with Christine’s this time around.
