Pink chose to use a moment of clapping back at a troll as a "good lesson in ignorance" for her 12-year-old daughter, Willow Sage Hart. After receiving a hateful comment from someone online, the 44-year-old singer-songwriter chose to educate her daughter on internet trolls and how they go out of their way to spew hatred and ignorant comments for no reason but to get a rise out of someone.
On Tuesday, the "Just Give Me a Reason" singer reshared a post on X, the platform that was formerly known as Twitter, of an image she was tagged in.
The post, made by the user @luvglubglub, showed an image of transgender and genderfluid former comedian, now British politician, Suzy Eddie Izzard. It was captioned, “Happy birthday @pink.” Pink had recently celebrated her birthday on September 8.
Pink reposted and responded shortly after. "Thank you so much," she began. "I just showed my 12 year old daughter your post. I explained to her that I’ve never met you, I don’t know you, and I have no idea why you would go out of your way to be hateful."

"It was a good lesson in ignorance," she continued. "Thank you. I still don’t know you. Congrats. You’re no one."
Fans in the comments swarmed to defend the singer.
"P!nk you’re amazing and I think you’re beautiful," someone commented. "Someone I know recently went to one of your shows and said it was the best show they’ve ever been to. You’re aerial act was incredible. Ignore the miserable trolls. You’re doing everything right! ."
"Thank you for calling out this behavior!! ," another person wrote.
Others rushed to defend both Pink and Suzy. "To be fair
@Pink. I should also like to point out there is absolutely nothing wrong with the person in that photo as well. Seems like they want to make fun of them and that is hurtful to that person too," a fan commented. "Love
@eddieizzard, love you – and love the fact that you shared this with your daughter and showed her what kind of person not to be. xo," another person shared.
Pink then proceeded to write a follow-up tweet. "MOST IMPORTANTLY -what a wasted opportunity here. There are so many pictures you could’ve chosen that were actually me that were worse than this picture, you nameless [expletive]. At least be creative next time dum dum," she wrote.
While many continued to defend Pink, others also used the post as a lesson of kindness for everyone.
"I didn't know who Eddie Izzard was until I reverse searched the image, and while I understand the comparison from some anonymous person online was intended to be an insult… Eddie seems like a pretty awesome woman herself who has dealt with a lot of obstacles to get where she is today," one user commented.
"If it were me, I would have explained to my daughter that someone tried to insult me by comparing me to someone else, but I think it's so cool to be compared to another strong woman who worked hard to get to where she is. It really should be considered a lame insult attempt, unless Eddie has done some awful things that I didn't catch on a quick Google search. She seems pretty cool, but correct me if I'm missing something."
