NY Woman Goes Into Early Labor At Pink Concert In Boston

One New York woman was covered in a different kind of sunshine than she originally planned. Angela Mercer was 31 weeks pregnant and went to a Pink Concert on July 31, 2023, at Fenway Park in Boston. She had what she thought were simply Braxton Hicks contractions. Her OB-GYN soon set her straight and told her the party was starting earlier than she had planned. She was in labor.

Angela struggled to find a ride so eventually called an ambulance to get her to a hospital. She arrived at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where she would give birth via cesarean section to a beautiful baby boy. His name, which was picked out before his mom’s adventures, makes perfect sense.

“We tried Uber, Lyft, everything. This went on for 25 minutes,” Angela recalled. “Eventually, I was like, ‘Alright. We’re just going to have to walk.’ Then my mom stopped someone in scrubs and they said, ‘You need to call an ambulance.’ So that’s what we did. It felt silly because it was only 3/4 of a mile."

Angela named her son Aycen Hart which she calls “serendipitous” because Pink is married to Carey Hart. She and her husband had picked the name out months before and could never have predicted how he would come into the world. He weighed in at 4 lbs., 7 oz.

“Isn’t it amazing how that worked out?” Angela mused. “People were suggesting names like Boston and Fenway, and it just so happened that we already had one that was relevant.”

Angela’s husband and Aycen’s father, Ace, unfortunately missed the birth because he was at home in Albany, New York, caring for their 3-year-old, Hollis. The pair were out getting ice cream when Ace got to the call that it was go time. Pink got wind of the Mercer family’s story and sent out a sweet congratulatory tweet.
