Teen Hooks Wallet With $2K Cash When Fishing & Finds Farmer’s ID & Immediately Calls Him

If you find yourself feeling a little low these days, this story about human kindness is sure to perk you right up.

This news story posted by ABC7 shares how a Minnesota teen happened to hook a wallet full of $2,000 cash while he was fishing and was able to return the personal item to the rightful Iowa resident.

The 14-year-old teen, Connor Halsa, was out fishing for walleye with his family during the summer months when he hooked what he thought was a giant fish. It turned out to be none other than Iowa farmer Jim Denny’s lost wallet.

According to ABC affiliate WDAY News, the Halsa family were out fishing on Lake of the Woods, which is a scenic lake near the Canadian border.

Jim had been fishing on that same lake the previous year and Connor was able to see who the wallet and cash belonged to due to a business card that was sitting inside the billfold. After receiving a surprising phone call, Jim made the trip from Iowa to Moorhead, Minnesota, because he wanted to meet the honest young man who was determined to get him back his money.

According to WDAY News, Jim was so pleased that he had his wallet and $2,000 cash again that he offered to give Connor reward money, but the teen politely turned down his offer.
