Pulling off a funny prank is a rite of passage for high school seniors. But hopefully, those pranks aren't terribly destructive. That was not the case when it came to what happened this week at a Texas high school.
A reasonable-sounding prank was organized by a small group of students at Memorial High School in Frisco during the final days of school. At first, the prank was just going to involve sticking Post-it notes all over walls.
Somehow, things escalated.
What started small turned big. Really big. And it seems like more than a small group of students were to blame.
The school building ended up not just with Post-it notes everywhere but also being terribly vandalized.

The damage to the building ended up being so severe that the school had to cancel its remaining classes! The last two days of school on Thursday and Friday were canceled so that cleanup efforts could begin.
Now school officials say they plan to hold students responsible.
And it's not just an annoying inconvenience. The damage was expensive. According to a letter from the school administrators, it will cost thousands of dollars to repair the damage that was done.
“Damage is estimated in the thousands of dollars and includes paint on the walls, destruction of furniture, discharged fire extinguishers throughout campus and more,” the letter says. “Every surface on the 300,000 sq. ft. campus must be cleaned, including the walls, ceilings and floors. Frisco ISD will hold the students responsible for costs associated with the clean up."
The situation was clearly out of control. A video posted to TikTok shows the total chaos unfolding as fire extinguishers are being used in an already trashed cafeteria.
School administrators now say they are working with the police department to identify those involved and that charges could be filed.
