Super Model Cindy Crawford Admits She Tried To Be Like Richard Gere In Their Marriage

A new AppleTV+ docuseries is offering a behind-the-scenes look into the lives of our favorite fashion models. The Super Models tells the stories of Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, and Christy Turlington. During the series, Cindy opens up about her four-year marriage to actor Richard Gere.

Cindy admits because of her youth, she took on many of Richard’s personality traits. As a result, she lost a bit of herself. This is the first time she has opened up about the subject, which she chose to leave out of her 2015 biography.

“I think I was 22 when we met,” Cindy explained. “In the beginning of a relationship, when you’re a young woman, you’re like, 'You like baseball? I like baseball. Oh, you’re really into Tibetan Buddhism? I might be into that. I’ll try that' … You’re willing to kind of mold yourself around whoever you are in love with.”

Cindy and Richard first met in 1988. Richard was 40 at the time. The couple eloped to Las Vegas in 1991. They were divorced four years later.

These days, Cindy is happily married to Rande Gerber. The pair first met when she was still with Richard — at her agent’s wedding. They were good friends before anything romantic happened. They married in 1998.

“Being rooted and based in friendship, it keeps the relationship elevated,” Cindy gushed. “There’s always a certain level of respect. We respect each other’s opinion about parenting and our personal life, but also for work stuff … We really listen to each other. I would want that friendship in my life no matter what.” The couple share two children, son Presley and daughter Kaia.
