Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are giving mediation a try to help resolve things in their divorce and custody battles ahead of their January trial date. The four-day intense mediation process began on Wednesday, October, 4, 2023.
The former pair are seeking to settle issues in their custody battle over their daughters, 1-year-old Delphine and 3-year-old Willa. Sophie's lawyer, Stephen Cullen, told the court that Joe was seeking 50/50 custody, which would "evaporate" a lot of his defenses in the case.
Stephen also stated that they would go "full hog" during the mediation process in order to resolve any matters. The judge set the trial date for January 2, 2024, and there could reportedly be multiple witnesses for both Sophie and Joe.
Joe filed for divorce on September 5, 2023. A Ring camera video of Sophie badmouthing their marriage to a friend was said to have been the final straw for him.

A source close to the Jonas Brothers singer said that Sophie would often go out partying a lot, leaving Joe alone to take care of their children. The source also claimed that the former pair just have "very different lifestyles."
Sophie recently sued Joe for not returning their daughters to England with her. She cited an international child abduction law, which she used as grounds for the children to be with her. Now, until everything is resolved, both parties agreed that the girls will stay in New York for the time being.
Sophie is currently staying at a residence in New York owned by Taylor Swift. She has been seen enjoying nights out with the singer and other celebrities, such as Blake Lively and Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim.
Joe's lawyer, Richard Min, told the court that Joe was on a world tour and set to take a break in December, meaning he would not be available for a trial before then. Richard also shared that he could neither be "optimistic or pessimistic about mediation."
"Four full days of mediation is a lot of time for these parties to sit in a room together and iron out their differences," he explained. "These are two individuals who have a lot of family, friends, social contacts, and business relationships that factor into their decision making and their discussions."
Their daughters are currently staying with Sophie. Her lawyer told the court that both parties are seeing their children, which he described as being "great."
