Burt Young, the actor who played Paulie in all of the Rocky movies, has died at the age of 83. He passed away on October 8, 2023, in Los Angeles. His death was confirmed by his daughter, Anne Morea Steingieser.
Burt was known to have built a name for himself in Hollywood as a "tough-guy" actor. Starring in other movies such as Chinatown, Once Upon a Time in America, and Beckman, he quickly became known for his many roles as a tough guy. His Rocky costar, Sylvester Stallone, took to Instagram to pay tribute.
“To my Dear Friend, BURT YOUNG, you were an incredible man and artist," he started the post off, sharing a black-and-white photo of them together. "I and the World will miss you very much…RIP."
Burt was a former Marine and professional boxer. He earned an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor in the first Rocky alongside Burgess Meredith, who played Rocky’s trainer, Mickey.

Burt also played in such shows as Miami Vice, Law & Order, and The Sopranos. According to IMDB, his last on-screen credit was in the 2021 movie The Final Code.
