Friends star Matthew Perry unexpectedly died on October 28, 2023, at age 54. His cause of death has yet to be determined. Fans, family, and friends were devastated by the sad news and many took to social media to pay their respects.
On November 14, 2023, fellow Friends star Matt LeBlanc remembered his buddy on Instagram. The Friends cast had previously issued a joint statement mourning and celebrating Matthew. It is evident that the Central Perk gang loved each other as much offscreen as on.
Matt and Matthew played best friends and roommates Joey Tribbiani and Chandler Bing on the beloved NBC sitcom. Matt shared a carousel of photos from Friends with his tribute. “Matthew It is with a heavy heart I say goodbye. The times we had together are honestly among the favorite times of my life. It was an honor to share the stage with you and to call you my friend,” Matt began.
“I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you. Never. Spread your wings and fly brother you’re finally free. Much love,” Matt continued. In true Joey and Chandler fashion, Matt ended with a joke. “And I guess you’re keeping the 20 bucks you owe me,” he concluded.

Matthew was buried on November 3, 2023. Matt, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, and David Schwimmer were all in attendance. Days after his death his costars stated: "We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss."
