On November 17, 2023 Casandra Ventura, who performs under the name Cassie, filed a lawsuit against ex-boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs which accused him of years of abuse, rape, and even blowing up a car. One day later, a settlement was reached. The terms are not known at this time.
Ventura first met Combs when she was 19 years old and he was 35. She signed to Combs’ record label, Bad Boy Records. The couple dated off and on for 10 years between 2007 and 2018.
Ventura issued a statement about the settlement. She wrote: "I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control. I want to thank my family, fans and lawyers for their unwavering support."
Combs also spoke out about the settlement. "We have decided to resolve this matter amicably," he stated. "I wish Cassie and her family all the best."

Combs’ attorney, Ben Brafman, also went on the record to make sure the world knew his client was not admitting guilt to Ventura’s allegations. "Just so we're clear, a decision to settle a lawsuit, especially in 2023, is in no way an admission of wrongdoing,” he explained. “Mr. Combs' decision to settle the lawsuit does not in any way undermine his flat-out denial of the claims. He is happy they got to a mutual settlement and wishes Ms. Ventura the best."
