A 5-Year-Old MO Boy Dies From A Mysterious Fall, Now Mom’s The Main Person Of Interest

Tragedy struck in Missouri this week. On Monday, November 27, 2023 5-year-old Grayson O'Connor died after falling from his apartment in Kansas City. Much about this case is still unknown and the investigation is ongoing.

A spokesperson from the Kansas City Police Department confirmed his mother is currently hospitalized for an undisclosed reason. She is a person of interest in her son’s death. Authorities are still determining if Grayson’s death was accidental, homicide, or neglect.

It is believed that Grayson may have fallen out of a window. Police arrived on the scene at around 11 a.m. They discovered "a juvenile suffering from apparent body trauma" in an alley by the 17-story apartment building. Emergency medical personnel would go on to declare Grayson dead at the scene.

It is not known what happened before the fall. The investigators are working to piece together the facts. They are working in tandem with the Jackson County Prosecutor’s office in the event that criminal charges are necessary.

Some of Grayson’s neighbors spoke to KMBC about his death, calling it preventable. Several had witnessed or overheard alleged abusive behavior from his mother. Kelsey Grzib even took care of the boy when he was taken out of his mother’s care after being found wandering the streets by himself. She’s angry and thinks the system failed Grayson.

"Yeah, yeah and I'm mad. Everybody's mad, the building's mad, everyone's mad,” she shared.
