Book Claims Meghan Markle And Kate Middleton Were Encouraged To Dress Like Princess Diana

It appears that Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton were often encouraged to dress like the late Princess Diana. According to a new book, Endgame, by Omid Scobie, "Diana cosplay has become a royal staple." The book, officially released on November 28, 2023, gives an inside look into the lives of the Royal family.

It is "a penetrating investigation into the current state of the British monarchy — an unpopular king, a power-hungry heir to the throne, a queen willing to go to dangerous lengths to preserve her image, and a prince forced to start a new life after being betrayed by his own family," according to the description.

In the book, the author details that a source told him the decisions to have Meghan and Kate dress like Princess Diana are always discussed with Prince Harry and Prince William. He attributes the moves as being "orchestrated" by Buckingham Palace, which also led to Diana's "living misery."

"I think we have seen lots of examples where the reference is very intentional and I think that Kate uses fashion to pay tribute to Diana in a very positive way," Bethan Holt, the fashion news and features director of The Daily Telegraph, previously stated. "What's really key about these times when Kate references Diana, it's not like a costume. She brings it right up to date so she makes it look relevant for now."

"She's not doing an '80s power shoulder or a puffball skirt, she's making it look sleeker and more contemporary," Holt continued. "She makes it her own without looking like she's playing 'dress up as Diana.'"
