A 12-year-old boy led Michigan police on a slow-speed chase while operating a stolen forklift. The incident was caught on dashcam, and took place in Ann Arbor on Saturday, November 25, 2023. Officers were dispatched to Forsyth Middle School around 6:45 p.m. after receiving a report that the boy was trying to steal the machine. Police then found the stolen forklift driving through the streets at 6:48 p.m.
The boy was driving the forklift while police chased him at about 15 to 20 mph. During the pursuit, he hit 10 vehicles.
Around 7:18 p.m., Washtenaw County authorities picked up the pursuit after the boy drove the forklift out of Ann Arbor. He finally came to a stop around 7:53 p.m.

No one was injured during the chase. The boy was taken to a juvenile detention center and an investigation is ongoing.
