When President Donald Trump showed up for a recent event in Nevada, everyone was thinking the same thing: Why does his hair look like that today?
Trump’s unusually voluminous and blonde hair sparked all kinds of theories, jokes, and memes online. Some of the comments from his supporters were complimentary, as they said he seemed to be “aging in reverse” due to his “amazing” hair that day. It’s unclear whether they thought his hair quickly grew overnight or he just styled it differently.
Meanwhile, some of his critics were convinced he was sporting a wig.
Some people didn’t even recognize Trump at first.

When they saw videos of him speaking that day, they thought someone was wearing a wig and impersonating him or something. His hair looked so dramatically different to them and did not appear natural.
“I literally thought this was an SNL skit of someone like Alec Baldwin playing him,” one person wrote on X. “That’s how fake his new hair looks. What happened to his old hair? Did it run off into the sunset?”
“I actually thought that it was an impersonator,” someone else wrote.
“Whoever told Trump to buy this ridiculous wig really has it in for Trump,” another person said.
People questioned what happened.

If it wasn’t a wig, why did his hair suddenly look like that? Journalist Aaron Rupar shared a clip from the event and wrote, “is Trump rocking a wig, or what the hell is going on here?”
“Well, he’s wearing one,” someone replied. “I wouldn’t say he’s rocking it.” Another commenter concluded that it was “definitely a new hairpiece.” People also started sharing comparison photos to make it clear that Trump’s hair really did look a lot different all of a sudden. “Did he get a toupee?” someone questioned. “Looks very different from yesterday.”
Several critics called him “desperate” and “insecure” for this. They assumed he couldn’t handle some of the less flattering images of his hair that went viral, and then this new hairstyle happened.
“No American president has ever projected insecurity like this before,” one critic wrote. “The huge combover, the heavy makeup, the shoe lifts, & now a wig? Seriously?”
It also sparked some body double conspiracy theories.

Maybe the person speaking at this event wasn’t Trump at all, or even Alec Baldwin; some commenters joked that Trump might have a body double now, just like his wife (There are already a lot of theories about First Lady Melania Trump’s supposed body double).
When Rupar captioned another clip with, “Trump’s hair, uh, has a lot more volume than normal,” some commenters left comments like, “This is not Donald Trump.”
Conspiracy theories aside, a lot of critics found the new hairdo hilarious, in a way. The 80-year-old president’s supporters claimed the new hairstyle made him look younger, but his critics said the opposite. Commentator Ed Krassenstein wrote, “I can’t stop laughing at Trump’s new wig. Or whatever the F$&k that creature on his head is.”
And someone else wrote that Trump’s “new hair bit just makes him appear even more ridiculous.”
