Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have always been a very fun-loving and open couple. They also love to keep it real, sometimes to the horror of their kids. A funny story they shared from 2019 is actually a kid's worst nightmare. Mark joined Kelly on Live! With Kelly and Ryan to recap their super-awkward Father's Day celebration.

Father's Day was a bigger celebration than usual because it fell on Kelly and Mark's daughter's 18th birthday. Lola routinely comes up in their stories, as she's usually the most mortified by their antics. Apparently, Lola tried knocking on their bedroom door before she opened it, but Kelly and Mark didn't quite hear her because they were, ahem, in the act. The horrified parents scrambled to talk their way out of it, but the damage was already done. Lola was horrified, as were Mark and Kelly later when all their kids started swapping their stories of walking in on the couple. The only thing funnier than the story itself is Kelly and Mark's retelling of it.
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have one of the most loving relationships in Hollywood. The couple met in 1995 after Mark landed a role on All My Children, the show on which Kelly had been a cast member for five years.
The two eloped in Las Vegas in 1996. Then they took off to Rome and Capri for their honeymoon.
The couple has been happily married for 23 years. They have three kids — Michael, 22; Lola, 18; and Joaquin, 16.
The family celebrated Father's Day together. It also happened to be Lola's 18th birthday.
Mark appeared with Kelly on Live! With Kelly and Ryan the next day to tell the tale of how their day didn't go quite as expected. The couple was having some alone time in their room to start off the morning.
"It happened again," Mark began while trying to hold back his own laughter. Depending on which one of them you ask, Lola may or may not have knocked on their bedroom door.
Kelly and Mark were going at it, although Kelly wasn't exactly into it. "I'm gonna be honest: I was not in the mood. There was a house full of people. … My in-laws were waiting to eat … I know they were hungry. Any time there's other people in the house, I'm not really relaxed."
Lola decided to venture in. Kelly and Mark saw the door opening and began babbling anything they could think of to get her to shut it.
Of course, Lola wasn't too happy with whatever she did see, especially on the morning of her 18th birthday. The couple recalled her saying, "Thanks a lot! It's my birthday. You just ruined my birthday. And my life. I used to see in color and now everything is in gray."
Later on, the family was enjoying brunch with Mark's dad. Kelly and Mark tried to stay focused on their food, but there was some shade coming from Lola's direction.
"She's just like, 'You're disgusting," Kelly said. Mark added that she said, "'You guys have no chill. You act like you're 20, but you're not.'"
Kelly tried to keep things vague, but still stick up for herself and Mark. "And I'm still trying to talk in code. [I'm like,] 'With respect, we weren't in the kitchen. We weren't in the hallway or your room.'"
The rest of their kids picked up on what was going on. They all started exchanging stories of times they've walked in on their parents.
The story was obviously too funny for the couple not to share. We hope poor Lola gets over the second wave of embarrassment from everyone finding out how her birthday began!
