Father Thinks He’s About To Die But Hero Waitress Jumps In & Saves Him From Choking

A fun family outing to a Golden Corral buffet took a harrowing turn for the Stevens family when a day of leisure and dining turned into a life-threatening emergency. The quick thinking and bravery of a Golden Corral waitress, Carla Jones, transformed what could have been a tragic incident into a heartwarming tale of heroics.

For the Stevens family, a visit to Golden Corral on a Saturday afternoon was a regular spot for them to visit, especially after enjoying the excitement of a monster truck show. Kelcey Stevens, along with his wife and three kids, settled into their usual routine of enjoying a hearty lunch at the popular buffet restaurant. But this outing took an unexpected and frightening turn when Kelcey began choking after taking a bite of his steak.

The joyful atmosphere of a family meal quickly transformed into a scene of panic and urgency. Kelcey told news channel KALB, “I kept thinking, I’m about to die here in front of my kids by a piece of steak.” Kelcey’s 14-year-old son, quick to notice his father’s distress, attempted the Heimlich maneuver to dislodge the obstructing food. Despite his best efforts, the son struggled to hit the right spot, leaving Kelcey in a perilous situation.

A waiter at Golden Corral joined the rescue mission, but the attempts proved futile. As the seconds ticked away, and Kelcey’s oxygen supply dwindled, a guardian angel emerged in the form of Carla Jones, a waitress at the Golden Corral. The scene, captured on video and shared with KALB with the Stevens family’s permission, depicts a frantic race against time to save Kelcey from choking.

Carla said, "He was almost passed out, I said let me jump in here and give him some help." It took Carla only two thrusts under Kelcey’s rib cage, and the steak popped out. The grateful Stevens family expressed their immense gratitude for Carla’s quick thinking and bravery.
