A woman on TikTok says that she thought she finally found a job in the field she wanted to work in — but she was fired after only five days with the company. The TikTok user, Sierra Desiray Frederick, said that the people who were supposed to train her didn't seem to know how to do so, which led to her being bored and feeling "useless" while at work.
She never had the chance to talk to anyone at the company about the situation because she was fired after five days, she explained in a video shared on TikTok.
Sierra explained in the video that she had previously posted about needing a job. She updated her followers by saying that she found one at a company that does print design for Aldi, which she was "super excited" about because she studied graphic design in college.
Her excitement began to fade after starting the job because she found that she didn't have much to do and the people who were supposed to train her didn't seem to know what to do.
She said that she worked five shifts at the job, and "in those five shifts, I spent probably three or four of those five days doing nothing because there's two other people on my team and they didn't know how to train me."

Every day, she explained, the people who were supposed to train her would say that they didn't know what work to give her or what to show her. One day, she explained, they asked her to watch videos she had "already watched."
Because they admitted that they didn't really know what they should do, Sierra explained that she spent a lot of her time "staring at my computer doing nothing."
"I felt very useless," she admitted, adding that she told her boyfriend that she felt like she needed to "talk to our CEO or something." She was really upset that she wasn't learning anything about her new job.
She went to work the next day, ready for the meeting she was supposed to have in the morning. Instead, she found the company's CEO standing by her desk. He had an envelope in his hand.
Though they were surrounded by other people, the CEO handed her the envelope and said, "We're letting you go, Sierra."
She was shocked, especially because she had only been there for five days and "learned literally nothing."
According to Sierra, the CEO told her that they were going to look for someone else to do her job because she wasn't "working out."
"He said, 'you're not working out. We're going to continue our search. Thanks for coming in,'" Sierra said in the video.
Clearly frustrated, Sierra went on to say that she got fired after driving 40 minutes to get there, and after only five days working for the company.
Some TikTok users who commented on the video were supportive, understanding how frustrating it can be when proper training isn't provided.
"Ive been burned by major companies dropping the ball with no onboarding," one TikTok user wrote. "I learned to ask during interviews what the onboarding process is"
"NOTHING worse than taking a job where they don't have a training process and blame you for not knowing how they want their job done," another person said. "Sorry babe"
Others could relate to her experience, with some commenting that they were also fired from jobs that they didn't have for very long.
"Elder millennial here," one TikTok user commented. "I love gen z. When this happened to me i internalized it & thought I was the issue."
Some called the company "unprofessional" for how they communicated with her and fired her without warning, and others pointed out that the kind of "training" that she experienced is not uncommon.
"Most jobs training today is: Figure it out yourself," one person wrote. "It's amazing. 30 years ago we had trainers."
