From February 14 to 16, 2024, the Invictus Games held a celebration in anticipation of the 2025 competition. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle traveled to Whistler, Canada, to take part in the festivities. Prince Harry talked to ABC News' Will Reeve about the event and his recent visit with his father King Charles.
Harry was happy he was able to visit him after his recent cancer diagnosis. Things have been tense between the prince and his extended family ever since he and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020. It appears as if Charles’ diagnosis could bring everyone back together.
Charles told Harry the hard news about his health himself. "I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could," Harry explained. "Look, I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that."
Harry spent about an hour with his dad while in London. He spent the night in a hotel and flew out the following day. It was a whirlwind 24-hour trip. He did not see his brother Prince William or any other family members. Harry hopes to visit again soon. "I’ve got other trips planned that will take me through the UK, or back to the UK, and so I’ll stop in and see my family as much as I can,” he stated.

Harry is open to the idea of coming together for his dad’s sake. He has seen firsthand how illness can bring families closer. "Throughout all of these families, I see it on a day-to-day basis, again, the strength of the family unit coming together," he mused. "So, yeah, I think any illness, any sickness, brings families together. I see it time and time again, and that makes me very happy."
