One of the rites of passage when growing up is your first haircut. Thankfully for toddler Evelyn Mae, her mom Autumn Mathas and her grandmother Trina King are hairstylists. This 1-year-old had it made.
Grandma wanted to throw it back to her beauty school days. She thought it would be fun to try out a “wet style.” She made sure mom was OK with it.
For those of us not in the know, Trina explained what that is. "It's when you put gel in the hair and wrap it in small rollers and (set it) under a dryer," she told Today. "When it's done, you tease it and smooth it out." She had not attempted this in some time, but thankfully it all came back. "It was like riding a bike," she added.
Autumn thought it was so cute, she just had to share it on TikTok. Her videos quickly went viral and have been viewed millions of times. "I was not expecting that" she stated. "It's made so many people happy."

In this rare case, one should read the comments. People truly embraced Evelyn.
"I took a Jazzercise class from her in ‘89," joked one user.
"Omg I knew I recognized her," chimed in another. "She sold me some Mary Kay last week! She also makes a mean pot roast."
One user even reached out to Autumn privately and it brought her to tears. "She was struggling with her mom's death," Autumn explained. "She asked her mother for a sign … she opened TikTok and saw (Evelyn Mae’s) Werther Originals, her mother's favorite candy. That touched me."
