Garrison Brown's final texts before his death have been revealed by authorities. The 25-year-old son of Sister Wives stars Janelle Brown and Kody Brown sent out concerning messages to a number of people who work for the Brown family before taking his life on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
According to Janelle, her son's message said, "I want to hate you for sharing the good times. But I can't. I miss these days." She told police that she was concerned and reached out to Garrison through text. The two of them had a brief conversation before he stopped responding.
After not hearing back, Janelle asked her other kids to check on Garrison. Gabriel Brown, her 22-year-old son, went to his brother's apartment in Flagstaff, Arizona, where he found Garrison dead. While an official cause of death has not been released, police declared it as an apparent suicide from a gunshot wound to his head.
Both Janelle and Kody released a statement on March 5, 2024. "Kody and I are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beautiful boy Robert Garrison Brown," she said, while Kody posted the same message, swapping his name for Janelle's. "He was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him. His loss will leave such a big hole in our lives that it takes our breath away. We ask that you please respect our privacy and join us in honoring his memory."
More from LittleThings: Garrison Brown, Son Of Kody And Janelle Brown, Dead From Apparent Suicide
Janelle and Kody share six children together. They separated in December 2022, while sister wives Meri Brown and Christine Brown also split from Kody. He is still legally married to Robyn Brown.
The latest season of Sister Wives dove into Kody's strained relationships, which included his estrangement from both his sons Gabriel and Garrison. "Since I last talked to Dad, I bought a house," Garrison had mentioned in an October episode. "I've gotten into school and I got the car that I wanted, that he told me I should never get."
Kody's strict rules during the COVID-19 pandemic aided in the strain on his relationships with his sons. He refused to stay over at Janelle's house due to them not being compliant with his rules. "My boys think it's fine that they're going out and continuing social lives while I'm making these humongous sacrifices," he previously said.
Janelle disagreed with his protocols, which furthered the feud. In an October 2023 episode, she expressed concern for both of her sons. “I have worried about my boys’ mental health. Gabriel feels everything very very deeply … and Garrison just seems angrier, sadder. He’s not as happy-go-lucky as he used to be.”
Just days before his death, Garrison has rescued a cat. "Newest edition to my home, Ms Buttons," he posted on Instagram February 28, 2024. "She's 9 years old and was on the line for euthanasia but my savior complex couldn't suffice. #crazycatlady."
Janelle posted another photo of her with all her kids after her initial statement about Garrison's death. "I had all my children together last Christmas," she said. "It was amazing as it’s hard with everyone’s busy lives to coordinate time like this. I am extremely grateful now that we had pictures taken."
Such a sad ending to a promising life.
