Photo Agencies Issue Kill Notice For Kate Middleton’s Mother’s Day Pic Due To Manipulation

The Mother's Day photo of Kate Middleton and her three children has been pulled by multiple agencies after the Associated Press issued a "kill order," claiming that there were manipulation concerns. The picture was released by the palace on Sunday, March 10, 2024, to celebrate Mother's Day in the UK.

According to Kensington Palace, it was taken by Prince William. "Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months. Wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day," the caption read, with Kate signing a "C" at the end.

However, multiple news agencies, including Getty Images, Reuters, and AFP have removed the image from their sites. “At closer inspection it appears that the source has edited the image,” AP noted, noting an inconsistency in Princess Charlotte's left hand.

The Princess of Wales later took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to issue an apology. "Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing," the statement read. "I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C."

Many people weren't buying the tweet, though, especially amid speculation about Kate since her absence from the public eye after her surgery in January.

"It’s the people replying as if this is actually Kate for me ," one person commented.

"Literally no one is buying this," another person wrote. "I’m genuinely concerned for this woman’s safety and welfare."
