Kate Middleton and Prince William have always wanted their children to live as normal lives as possible. This family policy applies even when mom is going through some medical issues. On January 17, 2024, the Princess of Wales underwent a planned abdominal surgery. The public was not given many details on the situation so Kate could have some privacy. We do know that it had nothing to do with cancer.
Kate spent two weeks recovering at the London Clinic. During this time her three kids Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, did not visit her. This was because Kate did not want to mess with their normal schedules. She was discharged from the hospital on January 29, 2024.
A source confirmed this to Entertainment Tonight that Kate and William did not want their children’s routines changed. They also did not want them to worry too much about their mom. They wanted things to be as normal as possible. The popular World War II saying, “Keep calm and carry on,” seems to apply here.
Just because the kids didn’t go to the hospital, that doesn’t mean they were not in contact with Kate. It is believed the family FaceTimed. Technology is a great thing.

Kate will not resume her royal duties until April. William has also stepped back temporarily in order to care for his wife. He will return to work and attend the London’s Air Ambulance Charity Gala Dinner on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. Kate is happy to be back home.
Kate did receive an important visitor in the hospital, her father-in-law King Charles. Charles was also at the hospital for a corrective procedure for an enlarged prostate. He made sure to check on Kate.
Kate also has the support of her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton and siblings Pippa and James Middleton. They live close to each other and help one another out. “Her parents are an enduring factor in the upbringing of their grandchildren,” a source told People. “And they will be a reassuring presence when she goes back to Windsor to recuperate. She is in great hands and will have lots of care and support at home."
