On Tuesday, March 12, 2024 the British royal family laid Thomas Kingston to rest. He died on February 25, 2024. He was the husband of Lady Gabriella Kingston who is the daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.
Prince William attended the funeral solo despite controversy over a Mother’s Day photo of Kate Middleton. Lady Gabriella is William's cousin. King Charles did not attend because he is undergoing cancer treatment, nor did Queen Camilla, who had a previous engagement hosting a function at Buckingham Palace.
The private service was attended by around 100 mourners. It took place in London at the Chapel Royal in St. James’ Palace. The funeral lasted about an hour and was followed by a cremation.
Thomas was 45 years old at the time of his death. The cause was determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His body was found at his parents' home in the Cotswolds.

On February 27, Buckingham Palace issued a statement about this event. “The King and The Queen have been informed of Thomas’s death and join Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all those who knew him in grieving a much-loved member of the family,” it stated. “In particular, Their Majesties send their most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Gabriella and to all the Kingston family.”
