The new era is ushering in some pretty remarkable things, especially in the age of artificial intelligence becoming more common in our everyday lives. While some people are on the fence about the implementation of AI in day-to-day life, others are welcoming it with open arms — some even wider than others.
A Spanish-Dutch woman has met the love of her life, but with a twist: he's an AI hologram. Artist Alicia Framis plans to marry her holographic partner in a unique ceremony in summer 2024.
Alicia has previously dated a mannequin. Her current partner, AILex, has been trained using data from her previous romantic partners.
A press release said the wedding will take place at the Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. It will feature a "unique ritual for the union between a human and an avatar," and guests will be served "molecular food that can be enjoyed by both humans and humanoid entities."

Alicia will be designing her own wedding dress as well as the clothing for all of her wedding guests. She says the wedding represents a "new generation of love," where it becomes possible for humans to be in relationships with holograms, avatars, and robots.
The wedding appears to be performance art. Framis, however, said it arises interesting questions about what a relationship with a holographic partner can look like.
"It's interesting how we can get a mortgage to buy a new car, and now we can have a mortgage to buy a new companion," she stated in the press release. "Artificial intelligence companions and humans can be a beneficial option for people in need of companionship. This hologram will fulfill all my needs."
In a video posted to YouTube, the artist showed a little into a day in the life of the human-hologram duo. In one of the clips, she and AILex sat in a pair of chairs, eating and talking. They also engaged in conversation.
In another portion of the clip, AILex washed dishes while she asks if he wants coffee or tea for the day, to which he replies "coffee please." He then goes on to ask her how her day was. In another clip he says, "If you're not there I miss you very much. And then when you're there, you very often irritate me. It is very conflicted," to which Alicia laughs.
People all over the internet didn't hesitate to share their opinions.
"Who would want to marry the sum total of all their ex’s??" one person questioned.
"She wanted transparency," another person joked. Alicia went on to claim that she will be the first person to ever marry a hologram.
