Mom Gets Through Giving Birth In An Unusual Way: Making Video Of Herself Doing Her Makeup

A mom on TikTok shared that she was looking for a distraction when she was in labor, so she decided to do her makeup. On TikTok, Harmony Jones, 29, shared a video that she captioned with "Get Ready With Me to have a baby!" The video shows Harmony bouncing on a birthing ball and applying her makeup as she prepared to give birth.

In the caption, she explained that she "was determined to have an unmedicated delivery." Doing her makeup "helped [her] push through the contractions." She also noted that having her partner there with her made a difference as well.

"So proud of myself," the mom wrote in the caption of her video. "Our bodies are so amazing."

While many TikTok users praised the woman, some were critical of her content.

"This is another level of insecure if u need makeup during labour," one person commented on one of her videos.

"Imagine thinking you’re better because you did your labor unmedicated," another person wrote.

Many others defended Harmony, with some saying that women are criticized regardless of what they do.

"Can’t do epidural cause you’d be weak, can’t do unmedicated cause then I’m better than everyone," one person commented on Harmony's video. "Make it make sense people. Be kind or move on."

@harmssssssss Get Ready With Me to have a baby! *Trigger warning* raw, unmedicated labor screams. This is my third birth and second unmedicated birth… I was determined to have an unmedicated delivery and for me, doing something to distract myself during contractions was KEY! So I did my makeup (again) IYKYK… Doing my makeup distracted me and helped me push through the contractions. It also helped to have my man by my side the entire time, rubbing my back during contractions. The back labor was intense. I did vlog my labor and delivery for YouTube so I will let you know when that is up on my channel! Our baby is 2 weeks old today and we are so in love. I’ve had a rough physical recovery, but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. So proud of myself. Our bodies are so amazing!!! Some women said that they wore makeup during labor as well. "Doing my makeup during labor was exciting," one person wrote. "I was getting ready for the biggest moment of my life ❤️."

Though many people were supportive of Harmony, they also wondered how she managed to look so good throughout her video because although they also tried to do their makeup before giving birth, they did not achieve the same results.

"I looked like a raccoon," one TikTok user joked, while another said she "would have sweated that all off."
