A Canadian paramedic who was first on the scene of a deadly car crash didn't realize she was treating her own 17-year-old daughter. The teen's injuries were apparently too severe.
That first responder was Jayme Erickson. On November 15, 2022 she was treating a seriously injured teen who was extricated from her car and taken to the hospital. But her injuries had rendered her unrecognizable, even to her own mother.

The scene was clearly horrific. But it wasn't until Erickson arrived home that she learned the crash victim was her daughter. At the end of the day, she was met at her home by Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers, who told her that the young woman she had been treating was her daughter, Montana.

The grieving mother spoke to reporters about her daughter. "She was a fighter and she fought until the day that she died and she was beautiful," she said. "She was so beautiful. If she ever put an effort into anything she would always succeed at it."
