One of the scariest things a person can experience is being home during a home intrusion. Though we all hope that we'll know what to do in the moment, you can never be sure.
Thankfully, one Texas mom kept her cool and was able to protect herself and her three children. The quick-thinking mom was home, with her kids in bed sleeping, when she heard a disturbance around 10 p.m.

What she heard was the intruder gaining entry to her laundry room. He was working on getting entry from the laundry room into the rest of the home when the mom opened fire.
The mom shot twice at the intruder, hitting him in the chest each time. When police arrived at the scene, they found the intruder, later identified as 41-year-old Roman Rodriguez, sitting in a chair in the backyard after being shot. He died as he was being transported to an area hospital.

It's unclear if Rodriguez was armed at the time he broke in. The mom will not face charges for his death, according to police. Though shaken, she was grateful that she and her three kids made it out of this situation safely.
