Pat Sajak Wants To Play With His Grandkids Now That He Is Retired From ‘Wheel’

Pat Sajak announced he would retire from his hosting duties on Wheel of Fortune in June 2023. His final episode aired on June 7, 2024. He came into America’s living rooms for more than 40 years.

Ahead of his big farewell, he sat down with daughter Maggie Sajak to reflect on his legacy. He even gave a glimpse at what he plans to do after. He wants to hang out with his grandkids. The only problem is, he doesn’t have any yet. Maggie has been romantically linked with actor Ross McCall, so there’s hope.

Maggie has joined the cast of Wheel of Fortune in the last few seasons as a social correspondent. She asked her dad what’s next.

He responded: “I’m perfectly happy if it just means that I’ll continue with my crossword puzzles and play with grandchildren. Hint hint hint. No pressure.”

Pat did let Maggie off the hook. “It’s been a great 40 years, and I’m looking forward to whatever’s ahead,” he stated. Maggie has recently been dating actor Ross McCall. They have been spotted in Los Angeles showing some PDA. They gush about each other on social media. Pat might get his wish.

Pat is ready for whatever is next. He didn't want to outstay his welcome, instead choosing to leave on his own timeline. “I’ve always said to you, you’ve heard me say this dozens of times: I’d rather leave a couple years too early than a couple of years too late,” he mused.

It's going to be a big change. “This was announced a long time ago, almost a year ago. So I’ve had time to sort of get used to it. And it’s been a little bit wistful and all that, but I’m enjoying it and taking it all in and reflecting on the great run.” America is certainly thankful for the laughs and will miss Pat’s quick wit.
