Giant Python Kills And Devours Missing Mother Of Four In Indonesia

Tragedy struck in the Kalempang village in Indonesia on June 7, 2024. A missing mother of four was found dead inside of the belly of a giant python. Farida was 45 years old at the time of her death. Her husband and neighbors made the sad discovery.

Her husband searched for Farida when she didn't return home. He found her some of belongings near an enlarged python. This made him fear the worst. He and his neighbors decided to investigate.

Suardi Rosi, the village leader, spoke to Agence France-Presse about the tragic incident. "[Her husband and his friends] agreed to cut open the python's stomach. As soon as they did, Farida's head was immediately visible," he explained.

Incidents like this are very rare. Most pythons are not big enough to consume a person whole. "Unless it's a truly gigantic specimen, they're just not much to be scared of if you're an adult human," Bruce Jayne, a professor of biological sciences at the University of Cincinnati, told People.

Farida's family is mourning their loss. Her husband can't help but blame himself, telling the Daily Mail he is "forever sorry" he let her "go out alone." His grief is raw. "I feel sorry for the suffering she went through. I am sorry for our family," he concluded.
