John adored his Mustang. His car was his most prized possession and it gave him an overwhelming sense of pride to drive around on his own or with his family. He washed and polished the car’s exterior every single weekend to make sure the vehicle was looking its best.
One Saturday morning, he decided to wash his car while his daughter Lily played nearby. He had taken his Mustang for a spin in the early morning hours and he wanted to make sure there wasn’t any mud or dirt on his car for the week ahead.
He didn’t usually allow Lily to come out in the Mustang unless the whole family was going somewhere because she still needed to sit in the back with a booster seat, but before he took off that morning, she came running out the door with her booster seat in hand.
The pair enjoyed their drive that morning so much that Lily expressed sadness about returning home. John told Lily that she could hang out and play in the front yard while he washed his car. She loved being close to her dad, so this made the little girl happy.
When they arrived home, Lily immediately grabbed her scooter and proceeded to ride up and down the driveway and sidewalk in front of their house as her dad began to wash his car. John became so focused on the task at hand that he stopped hearing his daughter’s nearby laughs until it was too late.

All of a sudden, John heard Lily yell from a few feet away to watch out behind him. John looked at the ground behind him, but he couldn’t see what his daughter was referring to because the driveway had become covered in water and soap.
