The 911 calls about the water scooter crash that killed a 9-year-old boy and his dad have revealed details of the horrifying moment that the accident took place. Jose Dominguez, 47, and his son, Daniel, were riding a 2018 Yamaha personal watercraft, when they unfortunately struck a concrete seawall, according to NBC News.
The crash occurred around 7 p.m. on August 13, 2024, in the Florida Keys near Castaways Waterfront Restaurant in Marathon.

One caller recounted the incident saying: "There’s a jet ski accident right across the canal. I don’t know how many people were on the jet ski, but they slammed into the wall. I think they landed on the ground. I don’t think anybody’s in the water."
"There’s just a jet ski explosion," another caller said. "I didn’t really see it, I just heard it, but I think he like, ran straight into the seawall, and he’s like, on land." Someone else added that the water scooter driver "hit it [the seawall] at 50 mph."

"I think it was two people on it," another caller said. "Honestly the one got flung onto the concrete. I’m not sure where the second one is, I’m on the far side of the canal, we just watched it from the restaurant windows here."
The father and son were wearing personal flotation devices, but sadly died from their injuries, according to a report by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Per NBC News, the report added that alcohol wasn't involved, but the crash remains under investigation.
