Dave Grohl Is Working To ‘Regain Trust’ After Having Baby ‘Born Outside Of My Marriage’

Dave Grohl has recently welcomed a baby daughter, but not with his wife. The Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer, 55, shared the news in a statement on Instagram on September 10, 2024. "I've recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage," Dave wrote in the statement. He has been married to Jordyn Blum since 2003. They share three children: daughters Violet, 18, Harper, 15, and Ophelia, 10.

In his statement, Dave wrote, "I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness."

He also expressed a desire to be involved in his baby's life. "I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her," he wrote in the statement.

He concluded the statement with, "we're grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together."

Dave did not provide any additional details about his daughter, nor did he share the identity of the baby's mom. The musician is not often spotted with his family in public. He also rarely speaks about his marriage in interviews, though he has revealed that his wife Jordyn is the inspiration behind some of his songs.

In 2006, he explained to A.V. Club that one of Foo Fighters' songs, "Burn Away," makes him cringe now because he was feeling so in love with his then-future wife when he wrote it.

"I was in love with my future wife and had some romantic f–king prom ballad," he said at the time.

In 2009, he told Time about how having kids impacted his songwriting. "It's changed everything that I do. When you have kids, you see life through different eyes," Dave said at the time. "You feel love more deeply and are maybe a little more compassionate. It's inevitable that that would make its way into your songwriting."

Two months ago, in July 2024, Dave and Jordyn attended London's Wimbledon tennis tournament together.
