Grief is one of life’s unavoidable realities. If we live long enough, we will inevitably have to say goodbye to some of our loved ones. What helps to make this tragic part of life a little more bearable is being able to be present when our loved ones take their last breaths and transition from one plane to the next. On the other hand, not knowing how or when your friends or family died can make an already trying time that much more painful.
That was the case for one family in Blackpool, England, who learned that their relative died in a disabled bathroom stall at a restaurant days before she was found.

Sabrina Lyttle, a 47-year-old mother of two, was found dead in the disabled bathroom stall at Gurkha Buffet Restaurant, Wide Open Country reports. She was reportedly inside the stall for two days before anyone realized she was there.
Sabrina’s mother, Catherine, 68, wrote about her daughter’s unfortunate end on Facebook. “My daughter entered the property on Thursday November 28 to use the toilet. Post mortem is still waiting to find the cause of death but her body was not discovered until Saturday afternoon,” she wrote.

Customers reportedly told the restaurant that the stall was inaccessible. Sabrina’s daughter Jade Casey, said customers assumed something happened with the lock.
The entire incident has left this mourning daughter frustrated as well. “I’m angry because she could have been found sooner, they should have done the usual toilet checks. It’s heartbreaking because we know she was left in the cold, on her own,” she shared.
At this time, the family doesn’t know the cause of Sabrina’s death. In a tribute to her mother, Jade described her as “funny and kind” and a “really nice person.”
She also mentioned that her mother struggled with addiction and had been in and out of homelessness for the past 25 years. The Sun reported Sabrina had been released from prison the day before. Police did not find any drugs on the scene.
The family wishes to honor Sabrina with the respect and dignity she didn’t always experience in life. As such, a family friend launched a GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses.
“Although she faced many challenges and made many mistakes during her addiction, Sabrina didn’t deserve to pass away the way she did,” the GoFundMe reads. The woman’s daughter hopes to cover funeral expenses. Jade also wants to donate funds to Horizon, a drug and alcohol support service that helped Sabrina over the years.
